Welcome to the online resume and portfolio of Steven H. Kosiba.
Steven is a lighting designer & lighting director, master electrician, moving light technician & programmer, concert production manager, sound technician and stage carpenter. Steven has experience working concerts, dance productions, musicals, plays and other events, from blackbox stages and found spaces to basketball arenas.
Steven is primarily a lighting designer, lighting director and master electrician. He has more experience with designing dance than with any other medium, but feels at home with concerts and theatre as well. He is also skilled in Qlab and in Adobe Audition for editing sound effects and in creating live aural playback environments. As well, he is skilled in mixing sound for live musical theatre and various other events that require sound reinforcement ranging from mid-size concerts to public presentations. In addition, Steven has experience working with dozens of touring shows (theater, dance and music) as a local electrician and student crew chief at Bucknell University and also as a member of Bucknell Performance Services. His most extensive experience with touring shows comes from being the Local Production Manager for major concerts and other events at Bucknell University from his Sophomore year to beyond Senior year, returning as a freelance PM for shows at Bucknell. These shows have given Steven experience with many different bands, technical staff and production companies.
Steven has had a passion for lighting and sound since the fifth grade and has been building things since his father allowed him to set foot in the workshop and pick up a little finishing hammer. He built up the technical theater programs of both his middle and high schools making many technical advancements in his high school theater. He served as Student Technical Director from his Sophomore to Senior year in high school.
Steven has been able to work with excellent equipment, but has also worked from almost nothing. He has had the experience of working with VL3000 moving lights and show automation programs, programming on GrandMA lighting consoles and mixing on Yamaha digital consoles. He stays on top of current entertainment technology as much as possible. He is very adept at learning new consoles and software, both for audio and lighting. However, he has also used old PAR cans, fresnels, and a manual dimmer board as well as running a show off of a small Mackie mixer with a CD player and two 2-way speakers; and is quite adept and pulling off quality lighting designs with few instruments.
Steven is very good at working in group settings as well as individually and possesses strong leadership skills. He holds the Eagle Scout award and served as Instructor, Guide, and Senior Patrol Leader in his Boy Scout Troop. This experience, along with his extensive technical education and experience, has given Steven a strong background in group leadership from both sides. He has the ability to lead when called on, but follows when asked to do so.
